Mimicry. Routing rules
Mimicry quick start covers the direct split tunnel option on the device: the user picks a country, and traffic to its sites goes out directly instead of through the VPN. The panel decides which country an address belongs to using its own directory — and that directory is general and coarse. Noticed an address going the wrong way? Open Routing rules and add a line for it.

Geo directory
The panel keeps its own directory of country IP ranges and refreshes it once a day. The Geo directory card shows its current state: the Source field — BeAdmin for the panel's own directory or GitHub for the fallback — and the Updated field with the date of the last refresh.
ℹ️ The fallback source never replaces an already-loaded directory
If BeAdmin's own directory is unreachable, the panel falls back to a public source — but only on a server that has never received the BeAdmin directory before. An already-loaded directory is never replaced by the fallback, and a failed refresh doesn't wipe it either: the server keeps working with the last directory it successfully loaded.
When you need a custom rule
The directory updates itself, but it's general and coarse: it may not know an address belongs to the country you picked, or the other way around — it may route something you want tunnelled out directly. A custom rule fixes one specific address without touching the rest of the directory.
How a rule works
Every rule has three fields: Address, Region, and How to route.
- Address — an IP address or a CIDR block, IPv4 or IPv6. Domain names aren't supported yet — only addresses and blocks. Addresses in the table must be unique: the panel won't create a second rule for the same one.
- Region — a specific country, or Global. The list of countries comes from the currently loaded directory: until it's downloaded, only Global is selectable, and the panel warns you under the field.
- How to route — Through the tunnel or Direct. Direct isn't offered when the region is Global — that combination doesn't exist in the interface.
⚠️ A country rule only applies when that country is picked on the device
A rule with a region other than Global applies only when the same country is added to the direct split tunnel option on the user's device. A rule for Morocco does nothing if the device only has Russia selected. A rule with the Global region always applies, no matter which countries are selected on the device.
Adding a rule
- On the Routing rules tab, click Add rule.
- Enter the Address — if a rule for it already exists, the panel refuses with A rule for this address already exists.
- Pick the Region — a specific country or Global.
- Pick How to route — Through the tunnel or Direct.
- Add a Comment if you'd like — an optional note up to 64 characters.
- Click Create.
Editing a rule
In the rule's row, click the Edit icon — the Edit rule dialog opens. The address is read-only there: you can change the region, the direction, and the comment, but not the address itself. To route a different address, delete the rule and create a new one.
💡 No need to re‑import the configuration on the device
Routes aren't stored in the client configuration file — the server sends them at connection time. After adding or editing a rule, there's no need to download and re‑import the configuration: the changes apply on connect.
Deleting a rule
In the rule's row, click the Delete icon — the panel asks you to confirm in the Delete rule dialog. After confirmation, traffic to that address follows the geo directory's rules again.
